On March 18, second-year undergraduate students in Industrial Design at the University of Montreal toured the Yamachiche plant as part of their course in eco-design. As a good example of the circular economy, Geneviève Dionne, eco-design consultant at Éco Entreprises Québec, wanted her students to visit the Soleno Recycling plant. “The welcoming attitude and the generous information given to the students made all the difference. The students were quite content, as they are more aware of the challenges of sorting, processing and treating post-consumer packaging“, says Geneviève Dionne.
Eco-design is an approach that takes into account the environmental impacts in the design and product development phases, and integrates these aspects throughout the product’s life cycle.
