IMPLEMENTATION OF A RAUSIKKO INFILTRATION BASIN IN GRIFFINTOWN
- Client : National Excavation
- Sectors : Infrastructure, Commercial and Institutional
- Products : RAUSIKKO Geocellular Retention System
- Realization : 11/06/2025
In the context of the Le Cardinal student housing development, located in the heart of Griffintown in Montreal, an underground retention basin with a 56 m³ storage capacity was required within a highly constrained space, leaving no room for expansion.
The site was constrained by the proximity of Inspecteur Street and surrounding buildings. The modularity of the RAUSIKKO geocellular basins allowed for a perfect adaptation to the restricted site, while ensuring the required retention volume and preserving the integrity of the environment. This flexibility made it possible to create an irregularly shaped basin of 17.6 m × 3.2 m (57,7’ x 10,5’) over two levels.
RAUSIKKO : THE NEXT GENERATION OF GEOCELLULAR SYSTEM
Faced with growing constraints in stormwater management—limited space, sustainability goals, and tight deadlines—geocellular retention systems are rapidly gaining popularity. Their high retention capacity and ease of installation make them the solution of choice for many projects.
A new addition to Soleno’s product line, the RAUSIKKO range stands out for its sedimentation tunnels that capture sediment, limit basin contamination, and facilitate long-term maintenance—a distinct advantage over traditional retention systems.
