The Context

The option of storage in pipes was chosen

The town of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts is faced with a problem of frequent overflows of the unitary waters in the receiving environment before they arrive at the water treatment plant, and decides to design and build a large-capacity reservoir, and to research high-performance, economical and sustainable products to that end. The project includes the installation of a 3000 m3 retaining system to capture combined sewage in order to eliminate overflows into the receiving environment.

The Solution

The Soleno technical team prepared an optimal proposal that met the specifications drawn up by the engineering firm, taking into account the physical constraints. We installed 448 linear meters of large-diameter pipes with one HDPE access manhole and one HDPE access chimney. These were connected to 488 meters of Sclairpipe having an outside diameter of 1520 mm (60 in), rated at 50 psi.

The inherent constraints and risks for the project are significant

Images and Quotes

One of the obstacles encountered was convincing the governmental authorities that provided funding to admit the use of large-diameter HDPE products.

The use of HDPE pipes allowed us to achieve the project in less time, while allowing us to adapt to problematic site conditions.
